Sex therapy (or ‘psychosexual therapy’) uses the principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to help you resolve sexual problems.

‘Cognitive’ means that I put a lot of emphasis on your thoughts and feelings, and ‘behavioural’ means that I put together a treatment plan made up of exercises for you to do in the privacy of your own home.

When past experiences are having a significant impact, I will also use psychodynamic approaches.  This means using an understanding of how our past is affecting our present to inform the direction of therapy.

Sex therapy is not about sexual technique – although I will share a lot of sexual information with you.

Sex therapy is about learning to have pleasurable, joyful, satisfying sex, whatever that means to you.
