‘Erectile difficulties’ means that you don’t always (or never) get an erection when you feel aroused, or get an erection but it isn’t reliable and makes penetration difficult or impossible.

This can be very upsetting both for you and your partner, so one of the first things I focus on in sex therapy is lowering your levels of distress and anxiety, as well as reducing any tension with your partner.

If there is no medical reason for erectile difficulties, then sex therapy can be extremely effective in bringing about rapid improvement.  If you have erectile difficulties I will usually encourage you to consult with your GP to rule out any underlying health problems.
